WandaVision Review

WandaVision has been the latest talk for many Marvel fans as it is the first new material that the company has put out in eighteen months. The show is airing on the streaming platform Disney+ and has just put out its final episode on March 5th, 2021. Fans are excited how it will tie into the future shows and movies that Marvel releases.

WandaVision is unlike anything Marvel has produced before. The first two episodes are rather light hearted and parody many sitcoms from the 50’s and 60’s like I Love Lucy, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Bewitched, and many more. However there are small moments throughout, that pretty outright let the audience know that something more sinister is afoot, even without them having to pick up on the many easter eggs hidden throughout.

As the show progresses, not only does it become much less subtle that there is something wrong, but the shows that are being parodied. Along with that, the style of humor, storytelling, and even theme songs changes as well to fit the era. I think that this gives the show something that anyone can enjoy. Whether it’s to be more remineciant about certain decades and the type of entertainment there was at the time, or if you enjoy all things Marvel. The show does a great job at blending both of these aspects together in an interesting way that keeps their audience guessing and wanting to tune in for the next episode.

The show features many returning characters that fans are familiar with like Wanda Maximoff, Vision, Darcy Lewis, and more. However the show also introduces some new characters (including villains) into the MCU that will likely have a tie into some of the future movies. This is another great way that the show helps draw you in by introducing new characters to the universe, and giving you more information about those you have already grown to love if you are a long time fan of Marvel.

Overall, the show is something far different than what Marvel has done in the past, but this is definitely a good thing. It’s given fans a lot to look forward to in terms of some of the new Marvel shows that will be airing on Disney + like, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and even new movies that will eventually be released. I definitely recommend checking out the show if you’re a fan of Marvel. Even if you aren’t as familiar with the franchise, the show is still something you could enjoy if you are looking for something new to watch.
