Each year the 4-H foundation puts on a carnival, auction & craft show. It is a great time for 4-H members, parents, extension office staff & the general public. This year was the 61st time putting on this event & the participation from the 4-H clubs this year was great.
The auction gives the clubs an opportunity to make gift baskets of different varieties to be auctioned off during the carnival. The general public bids on these baskets & the proceeds made by the auction go straight to the 4-H Foundation. The participation of the public during the auction was up from last year & attendance from the public, in general, was also up from last year.
“ I showed up for my second shift for my club’s booth & it was crazy,” said Renee McCray, a senior 4-H member, “there were so many people.”
Overall, the event was a hit. Many of Berthoud High School’s students were there running a booth with their club & some were just there for support. The auction & craft show proved to be a success as well. The combination of the carnival, auction & craft show just goes to show that 4-H really does have something for everyone.
