It is that time of year again! Berthoud Girls Soccer has begun for the 2021 season. The team is being coached by head coach Isaias Gomez and assistant coaches J.J. Johnson and Christine Torres for the third year in a row. Unfortunately the Berthoud team will only have a varsity but these coaches are whipping us girls into proper soccer players for an exciting season.
This season of course like all other sports is looking a bit different because of Covid-19, but the lady Spartans are looking to play the most out of the short season they get. But unlike the other sports, D-season sports are having to play into the summertime. The girls will be playing their last game of the season on Thursday, June 10, 2021 against Loveland Classical School. They have a total of four games that will be played into June, however the school year ends on May 27, 2021 meaning that they will actually be playing a total of five games into the summer.
Most of the girls are more than happy to play every last game they can, even if that means that they have to play a little bit into the summer. However for some of our seniors it means that they will have to say goodbye to soccer a bit sooner.
This year we have a total of three seniors who will be wearing maroon and white for the last time. Abby Dodd, Anna Thormodsgard and Becca Ridout are excited to be able to play our last season even if it is going to be so short.
Berthoud’s first game is Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Thompson Valley with a kick off at 6 p.m., be sure to get tickets for the game!
